That’s why we’ve designed family-friendly spaces and thoughtful amenities, including play areas, parents rooms, and kid-friendly dining, to make your trip a little easier and help you start off on the right foot (even if someone’s missing a shoe).

Before You Arrive
Plan Ahead:
Ensure you’ve allowed plenty of time to park, navigate traffic, and check in for your flight. Check our location map for directions and take a look at your airline’s policies on child and infant meals, bottles, and extra luggage to avoid any surprises.
Pack Smart:
Some airlines offer kid-friendly meals, but packing tried-and-true favourites like biscuits, juice, and water can help keep tiny travellers happy. Forgot something? No stress! Our terminal shops have snacks, travel essentials, and entertainment. Kids Stop and WHSmith are stocked with books, toys, and activities to keep little hands busy while you wait.
Family-Friendly Facilities
Toilets with dedicated parents rooms are available throughout the terminal, both in the Check-in and Departures areas. These rooms include:
- Microwave for heating bottles or food.
- Change table and feeding chairs.
- Privacy curtains for a calm space.
Play Areas:
Let the kids burn off some energy before takeoff with our play areas designed for little adventurers.
- Domestic Departures: Adjacent to Kids Stop in the northern end of the Domestic Departures Lounge.
- International Departures: Located at the southern end of the International Departures Lounge.
Family Assistance Line:
Make security screening a little easier with our Family and Assistance Screening Lane—designed to provide extra time and support for families and those who need it.
Meet Our AmbassaPAWS:
Flying can feel like a big adventure, especially for little travellers. That’s where our therapy dogs come in! Roaming the terminal, these friendly pups help ease nerves and bring a sense of calm before takeoff. Whether it’s a wagging tail or a gentle cuddle, our AmbassaPAWS are here to make your journey that little bit smoother.

Hungry Jack’s and Schnitz offer dedicated kids’ meals, perfect for picky eaters or growing appetites. Many other outlets also have family-friendly menu options to keep everyone happy before take off.

On-Site Chemist:
For baby essentials, travel must-haves, or anything in between, Amcal+ Express is located right after Domestic Screening in the departures area.
Parking
Located close to the terminal, our family-friendly parking options make getting to check-in easy.
For a stress-free start to your trip, ParkFast offers the ultimate convenience. With concierge-style drop-off and self-serve key collection, it gets you to the terminal in no time. It’s like valet, just different! Check-in is available from 5:00am to 12:00pm (noon) daily.

Which airline lounges are available?
Gold Coast Airport offers Virgin Australia Lounge and Qantas Club for eligible passengers.
How do I find out if my flight is delayed?
Check the Flight Information Display Screens on our website or throughout the terminal. You can also contact your airline directly.
Do I have enough time to transit between international and domestic terminals?
The International and Domestic Arrivals and Departures are located within the same terminal building. If arriving from an International flight, proceed to the right as you exit the International Arrivals area to check in. If you are arriving on a Domestic flight, proceed through the Domestic Arrivals corridor and, upon exiting, turn left — the Check-In area is located within a short walking distance. What’s the carry-on luggage weight limit?
Carry-on luggage weight limits vary depending on your airline. This is often included in your flight itinerary or booking details. For further clarification, contact your airline directly.
What food and drink options are available at Gold Coast Airport?
There’s no need to travel hungry. In the Domestic terminal, you’ll find a range of options including Social Espresso, Hungry Jack’s, Artisan Kitchen & Bakery, Asia Street Cooking, and more. For international travellers, Wollumbin Café & Bar is available in the International Departures Lounge.
Are there vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options available?
Yes. Many of our food outlets cater to dietary requirements. Check in-store menus or speak to staff for options that suit your needs. To plan ahead, visit our individual store listings.
Is there somewhere to grab coffee at the airport?
Yes – you’ll find several café outlets across key areas including Check-In, Departure Lounges, and Arrivals, all serving barista-made coffee to keep you fuelled for your journey.
Can I bring my own food to the airport?

Is there public transport available to and from Gold Coast Airport?

Where is the rideshare pick-up zone?
Rideshare pick-up is located outside the terminal in the designated rideshare area.
Can I catch a train to the airport?
While there's no train station at the airport, you can take a bus or shuttle from Varsity Lakes or Helensvale train stations.
How far is the airport from Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay?
- Surfers Paradise: ~30 minutes by car
- Byron Bay: ~45 minutes by car
Are there car rental services at Gold Coast Airport?
Yes – major rental car companies have desks inside the terminal. Pre-booking is recommended, especially during peak periods. For more information click here.
Is there baggage wrapping available?
Yes. Baggage wrapping services are available opposite the Virgin Australia check-in counters.
Are there ATMs at Gold Coast Airport?
Yes. Multi-currency ATMs are located throughout the terminal and offer AUD, NZD, and JPY. Fees range from $2 to $25.
Where is the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) desk?
Located in the International Departures Lounge near the top of the escalators before Heinemann Duty Free. Inform check-in staff if you need to claim an item packed in checked baggage. For more information about TRS please visit the Department of Home Affairs website.
Are there Multi-Faith areas at the airport?
Yes, three Multi-Faith/Prayer Rooms are available:
- Near the main security point, opposite the domestic passenger screening area.
- In the Domestic Departures Lounge, near Hungry Jack’s.
- In the International Departures Lounge on Level 2, near WHSmith.
