Community Benefit fund

The Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) Community Benefit Fund is focused broadly on the categories of environment and sustainability, accessibility and indigenous affairs. The initiative is run by the QAL group on behalf of Mount Isa Airport. 

Applications for 2025 Community Benefit Fund are now closed.

A Mount Isa Airport terminal upgrade has started this month, as flight and passenger numbers return to pre-COVID-19 levels.

The project involves an upgrade and expansion of the security screening area, which will deliver other improvements for the terminal, including more space in the departures area and improved passenger flow.

QAL extends support to help lower regional fares

Queensland Airports Limited, the owner and operator of Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports, has extended its agreement with independent airline Regional Express (Rex) to help keep airfare costs lower for regional Queenslanders.

The accomplished airport operator agreed to continue its support of the Rex community fare scheme following completion of its six-month trial at the end of January.
